About the role: 

We are looking for a QA Engineer for a short-term project for 3 months. There's a chance of Full-time employment conversion at the end of the contract period. The QA will be responsible for testing streaming apps on various devices (Primarily Roku) and platforms. Testing will range from validation of the user interface to high-level validation of media streaming and broadcast technologies. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality of media applications and games being developed for world-famous brands. The role will involve a close relationship with software development teams.


Location:

This role is based in Toronto, Ontario. We welcome candidates interested in hybrid work, but they must be located in Canada.

Main tasks:

  • Define QA initiatives throughout the entire software life cycle.
  • Provide appropriate planning and execution in regression testing, performance testing, and other non-functional testing to ensure successful application deployment.
  • Design and execute test plans and test cases.
  • Collaborate in a cross-function delivery team to ensure that all aspects of quality are actively discussed and addressed during the delivery process.
  • Work with clients to help resolve issues around quality.
  • Update and maintain best QA procedures and standards, including test planning and data preparation.
  • Work closely with developers, business analysts, project managers, and product owners
  • Define and analyze performance objectives and measure against targets.
  • Provide input to the QA manager/Team lead for all QA-related activities and dependencies.

About You:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or related discipline. Preference will be given to Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science degree holders.

  • 2+ years of experience in the field of Software Quality Assurance
  • Strong knowledge of software Quality Assurance best practices and methodologies
  • Solid knowledge of manual testing tools
  • Strong experience in planning QA activities without guidance (self-sufficient)
  • Experience with clear and good reporting
  • Self-motivated, passionate, responsible, and a good team player
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Good communicator, detail-oriented and quality-focused
  • A positive mindset and a can-do attitude
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

Nice to Haves:

  • Knowledge of streaming technology is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Roku platform will be a plus.
  • Experience testing with some media streaming devices and preparing the devices to be tested (load apps directly into the device, configure devices, manage APK files, etc)
  • Experience with some development languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java is a big plus.
