Growing with Accedo

 October 2015

Accedo is one of Sweden’s fastest growing tech companies, and you can really tell! Asides from new colleagues joining us every week, we also just moved into our new HQ office in central Stockholm. This is a real milestone in the history of the company, but for me personally its a real plus to work in such a central location in Stockholm. Asides from the great office environment, there are hundreds of restaurants around, which solves the most serious problem in my life: What should I eat for lunch?(LOL)

Keep trying different restaurants around the new office with Oscar and Gustav

As I mentioned in my last post, my first assignment during the trainee program is to work in the product department. In Accedo, we have lots of fantastic products under development. The product I am working on is (Accedo AppGrid®). It is a cross-platform application management system with many powerful features. You can check the video on the AppGrid website to know what AppGrid® is.

At the moment, I am really familiarising myself with Agile Software Development. My academic background is within Computer Science so I have taken plenty of courses on Software Engineering at university, but before joining Accedo I had no practical experience on how these methods are applied in the real world. Now, we are working with the Agile Scrum method, which means stand-up meetings every morning, planning meetings before every sprint… and so on. I have to say, after one month, I have a much deeper understanding of how the process of developing a creative software should be in the industry. Also, Javascript is really the key language in web development, and the key component that enables us to create one-page applications for the modern web. Actually, when I first learned Javascript in school many years ago, I thought it would only be used to do smaller validation of forms. The development of today’s Javascript surprised me a lot. If you are curious to find out more about the required technology for working in the web industry, I would recommend this blog post from former trainee Emil.

Until next time! Have a nice weekend!
