Accedo Takes The FOX SPORTS “Watch AFL™” Video Streaming Experience World Wide

Sydney, Australia, 21st February 2017 – Accedo (http://www.accedo.tv),  the video experience pioneer today revealed that it is behind the Watch AFL™ video streaming service that FOX SPORTS launched in early February world-wide across mobile iOS and Android devices, as well as Chromecast or AirPlay on Apple TV.

Watch AFL™ marks FOX SPORTS’ first foray into international distribution with its first direct-to-consumer international streaming service. It is available in every market outside of Australia, and provides Australian Football fans everywhere with ready access to live games, on-demand catch-up content and AFL entertainment shows.

Watch AFL is powered by Accedo’s cloud-based video experience management platform, Accedo AppGrid®. AppGrid provides modern video experience providers with real-time control, configuration and cross-platform insights over their video experiences from one, full-featured, cloud-based platform. Thanks to AppGrid and Accedo’s experience managing delivery of video services to global markets, FOX SPORTS has been able to bring the service to multiple markets in a very short timeframe.

FOX SPORTS, Director, Operations and Digital, Les Wigan, said: “Watch AFL is a ground-breaking streaming service. We worked with Accedo to build a new high tech product that will deliver our world-leading sports coverage, including live coverage of every AFL game plus all the great FOX SPORTS’ AFL programs, to fans around the world. We worked hard to launch the service in time for the inaugural AFL women’s competition, that has so far been a big hit with fans.”

Matt Kossatz, VP APAC, Australia, added: “As Australia’s leading provider of sports content, this move to bring AFL to an international audience is extremely interesting for fans across the globe. AFL has a huge international following, including amongst expat Australians. I am really pleased to have worked with FOX SPORTS on the exciting service and, as an Australian who is often travelling, I look forward to keeping up with the sporting action myself when I am away from home.”

Watch AFL was launched in early February and can be tried for free until 23rd March 2017. Further enhancements and additional features are planned for the future. Go to http://watchafl.afl.com.au to find out more.

About Accedo

Accedo (http://www.accedo.tv) is a trusted video experience transformation pioneer improving the lives of video consumers by the hundreds of millions.

Over the years, Accedo has earned the trust of over 350 of the world’s leading video service providers – customers to whom two goals are paramount: explore new opportunities to monetise video and transform video services to meet rapidly changing consumer expectations. Accedo customers include: global video service leaders like Netflix, NBC Universal, Spotify, Fox, Disney, Telefonica and HBO, among many others.

The company was founded in 2004 on a simple observation: emerging technologies will transform how people watch television and consume video, but video service providers will struggle to keep up with the complexities of the new landscape.

This insight led Accedo’s founders Michael Lantz and Fredrik Andersson to create a portfolio of experience-centric video solutions that: shorten time-to-market, improve operational agility and boost monetisation capabilities.

The company has grown 1000% in 5 years, with 2000 video experience deployments from 18 offices around the world.
